You can apply for a work permit if you can find an employer who'll file for a LMO in your favor.

Immaterial if you have relatives.  You must find an employer, the employer must advertise the job on the job bank for 2 weeks, then apply to HRSDC for an LMO, and demonstrate why no CCs/PRs were qualified for the job.  Only then can you apply for a work permit.

But, can I do that while I'm inside Canada?! Like said on CIC page:

Quote
Eligibility to apply from inside Canada

You can only apply for a work permit from inside Canada if:

    * you have a valid study or work permit, or your spouse or parents have a study or work permit

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/work/apply-who-eligible.asp#inside

Except one of my parents is already a citizen (employed).

I 'know' about LMO procedures ... thank you.

Are you a still a dependent of your parents? If you are then you can apply to CPC vegreville otherwise you need to apply to a visa office outside Canada, usually the US either Buffalo or Seattle, whichever is closer to you in case you are called for an interview.

1. non-dependent, European, don't need visa to come to Canada, hopefully next year bachelor of Mechanical eng.

2. So, when I'm in Canada (Vancouver,BC), I should find an employer who'll file for a LMO and then apply in Seattle?

Can you explain me what the combination of ''open work permit and application for PR'' is? -Is it possible/usable?

Thanks a lot.

Great. So now you're just exploring the possibilities.

If you don't need a visa to enter Canada and you don't need a medical with the line of work you're going to pursue, then once you have a LMO you can go to the nearest Port of Entry (Blaine, in your case), with $150.00 and obtain your WP from there.

Didn't quite get the last question. But if you mean while applying for permanent residency in Canada, you can apply for OWP once you have first stage approval (applicants normally file the PR and WP application at the same time, so OWP is received with AIP Smiley)

Only spouses in Canada get OWP for first level approval.

Aha, so I can apply for WP from inside country, (not for OWP, AIP ...whoops, I read it in sponsorships) but really the main thing is to get arranged employment (so maybe I will borrow your nick for a while Smiley).
And then go to the US to re-entry?

But if my intention is to work and live here, and if I apply for PR say in Wienna, then I'll have to go back to EU and leave my work here!?
If that's the case should I apply with WP,PR ''pack'' from inside?

Are conditions to find work in Canada now (I mean recession...) any better?
How long does this WP last, a year, 6 months...?

... don't need a medical with the line of work you're going to pursue...
I didn't quite get what you mean, are you talking about medical exam?

Hope I'm not complicating to much.

Thank you guys.

Yes, enter US, then do a u-turn, but if the U-Turn slot in Blaine is still open, you can turn right there and then you save $6.00 Smiley

When you qualify with PNP or CEC or spousal sponsorship later Wink, I think you can apply through Buffalo.

Depends upon your offer of employment, one or two years; and how easy or difficult to obtain a job depends upon your skillset.

Some jobs inherently requires that you do a medical exam- health care, food industry.

Hope I'm not complicating to much.

Thank you guys.

Hi, guys

I have arrived in Nov. 2010 in B.C. on one year Working Holiday Permit.
I got permanent full time job.
Now I would like to extend my working visa from inside Canada, obviously.

Can you advice maybe how to extend WP for another year?

Thanks

Your employer has to file for LMO in your favour.

I don't know why this LMO is so "scary"  Smiley, but I guess I have to go with it.

Hi, job_seeker, it's been a while, eh...

Not scary at all. Employer advertises for the position with the job bank and another website for at least 14 days and when no Canadian citizen/permanent resident applied or qualified for the job, files an application for the LMO in your favour. Employer can attach a letter justifying why you are the best person for the job. But the ad has to be done at most three months before the LMO application.

I don't know why this LMO is so "scary"  Smiley, but I guess I have to go with it.
