Hi everyone,

My husband and I were getting ready to submit our documents and upon checking online there were new requirements. Specifically on police clearance, under the old guidelines did not state that it has to be taken 3 months prior to submission of papers and under the new guidelines it has to be.

I'm from Philippines, and our police clearance department (NBI) has just changed their system so instead of just getting the clearances in few minutes like it used to be, now it takes a month to get one. I already got a clearance but its unfortunately 3 months and 2 weeks since I got it.

Can anyone please tell me if it is alright to not have the 3 month requirement, since our application still uses the old guidelines.

Thank you.

Here is a thought, since you have recently got a police clearance, you already are in their system. Write a letter to the Commissioner or whoever is in charge, stating that you need a new one and they can issue based on the one you already have. Worst case they have to check for 3 months and that should be quicker. Meet personally if possible to someone to make them understand.
Can you contact a CIC agent and ask them to confirm?

It has always been a requirement that police certificates not be more than 3 months old when the application is submitted to CPC-M, it is not a "new" requirement, unless they made that change in the last year or so.

Thanks. Husband contacted an immi lawyer and was told to just a letter explaining the situation. I hope that works. And thanks for your reply, will do that as well.

See the following link:

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/security/police-cert/intro.asp

Specifically:

The certificate must have been issued no more than three months before you submit your application.

Have some of you submitted your police clearances after you submitted your application?  We want to get things rolling, but may not have all 4 police clearances in hand by the time we put the papers in.  Can we just submit our papers and send the police clearances as soon as we get them?  Already our Singapore one will be sent directly to the processing office - it never goes directly to the person applying.
