Hello,
my OHIP is expired as my wife's and my wife's due date is in October. My Work Permit is expired and I don't expect to get it renewed by the time baby is born. I have a private insurance to cover expenses, but my concern is for the baby. Does new born baby gets OHIP staright away even none of her parents have OHIP? Or I have to bare the expenses.
Appreciate all your advice.

I think you should ask OHIP directly.  You can find them at http://www.health.gov.on.ca/en/public/programs/ohip/ phonenumber at the bottom.

Hi Candyman,

Hi,

I read your post and I am in a similar boat as you were sometime. My OHIP expires on 19th June. Wife is expecting on the 29th July. Thought you could answer my queries.

1) Does the new born get OHIP immediately?
2) How long does it take to get the birth certificate?
3) Were you able to manage the delivery expenses without OHIP. Which hospital did you go to.

Kindly respond as soon as possible.
Thanks
