Hello everyone! A very kind heart is so much appreciated.
Is anybody here in Edmonton a temporary foreign worker, specifically a REGISTERED NURSE at any area and settings? I just wanted to know at what employer are you working with. It is really very very hard to get an employer that is willing to get and LMO and work visa. I almost got hired at Misericordia Community Hospital, interview done, and medicals on schedule but when I ask them if they would possibly provide me an LMO, they turned me down. Very upsetting.
Me and my hubby moved here 2 mos ago, and from then on I never stopped looking for a job. I received a lot of calls for interviews, but because of the LMO, I always don't qualify.

Please a little HELP with the info of employer.
Thanks in advance.

I am also a nurse.  what is LMO? please use full form whenever possible....as you may think already understood, may be strange to the readers, some may respond like this but more may ignore even the issue may be familiar with them but if you convey it improperly...

LMO (Labour Market Opinion)
A positive LMO is needed to be able to get a work visa.

LMO has been extremely difficulty especially in Alberta, BC and Ontario. If you have nursing registration, try capital health in Edmonton.

I already tried Capital Health, Covenant health and Alberta Health Services, but they all stopped hiring temporary workers who needs LMO, work visa.

hi, so how did you ge there? did you arrive there as a tourist? if so, how many months are given to you? LMO is hard to get, so, am afraid that you need to go back to your home country and apply federal skilled worker migration as a nurse, but this time the cap has been reached already for nurses and you need to wait for another one to be opened..i guess that will be by june this year, hopefully...

are you from the Philippines?

I understand from a friend (a nursing instructor) that more Licenced Practical Nurses are finding full time work when they graduate than RN/BSNs.  Is there anything stopping you from applying under the LPN NOC of FSW or looking for LPN jobs and getting LMO for that?  Just a thought that could open more doors.

I don't know officially if an RN can apply as an LPN either, but it would make sense as an RN is trained to do all that an LPN does and more, AND an RN supervises LPNs.  Any company who hires and RN to do an LPN job would be getting very good value for their money!!  I'd be interested if anyone has the answer???

Is LMO should be taken by everyine wants to work as RN?

I am planning to work in Alberta as RN and what I have done so far is send all the documents to CARNA and just waiting to receive the PR then to write the CRNE exam.

Is there any other process involved if I want to work in Alberta as a RN.

Many thanks in advance for your help, Sans_May2010
