Thanks everyone for your words of encouragement. They did lose my file, I called again and I had an agent say they opened a diligence. She told us to call in two weeks to see what has happened (previous agent had said two to three months and never mentioned there would be any diligence whatsoever, he just said that they found no trace of my file besides the payment despite us having received a confirmation of delivery by the post). The new agent said I should be prepared for the possibility of having to file all the documents again, but didn't inform me about the need to pay the $1040 again and then ask for a refund of what I had previously paid.

So it's gonna be all the waiting from the beginning all over again. And photos and translations and police certificate and everything.

My heart is shattered.

Hi Agga, sorry to hear about your lost application. Hopefully you have a backup copy on your computer.
I cannot imagine how you feel. Please do not lose hope! Just think about the happy ending that will come.
Maybe they will find it still.

Thank you. I do have a copy of the file, but I'm not sure if they would accept me just sending them what I have. I guess I will have to produce all police certificates and the like anew. I was really hopeful we'd have the sponsorship approval by now and would be able to start planning our lives ahead with some more certainty. I counted on it and came to Canada under a student visa, I was ready to pay international student fees for the first half of the year - waiting was way too painful, specially considering all the suffering we had been through until we got here. We don't have money to pay for the second half, so I'm likely to have to leave by July and will have waisted all this time and money for nothing. It's really frustrating and painful. There will be no happy ending any sooner, and I can't really live happily all that much by now, knowing that we will soon be apart again.

Agga, that's so awful... I can't imagine how you must be feeling right now!

I know that sometimes when people have forgotten to include something in their application, or if they've missed out a signature, CPC-M send back an addressed label for a specific visa officer so the application can jump the queue and go directly to someone to be reviewed.

Perhaps you could suggest this to them? Say if they do require you to start from scratch, can they allow you to bypass the queue to save you waiting another two months or so for sponsorship alone?

Sorry I can't help more Sad

Hi Agga, I feel very sorry for you and your spouse. It is an awful experience but hey there is a light at the end of the tunnel. Don't loose hope. I can imagine what you are going through but do what you need to do.

How the package was sent to them? By registerd post? Do you have the receipt and any confirmation that shows somebody received at CIC? If you have that, you can still ask them to find your file. It is not your fault.

Hey Guys

I came across this website while looking for information about Family Class - Spouse category

I am a Canadian who has applied for his wife who falls under the New Delhi office. I just wanted to share my timeline with everyone.

Application Received in Mississauga : 04-Nov-2011 (was able to access e-Cas shortly after)
Medical done : Oct-2011
Sponsor Approval and Transfer of file to New Delhi, via e-mail : 12-Jan-2012

Applicant's e-Cas was showing the address, but it is not anymore but seems like it's an issue with everyone so I'm not concerned. It just shows the following :

We have received your application for PR on 04-Nov-2011

Lets hope that everyone gets their approval's quickly, and we all get to see our family soon.

Hi

Its funny but you and I have pretty much the same dates.

I just received my approval of sponsorship letter via email on Jan 24th and the online status tool still reads application received and nothing else. I read somewhere they update every tuesday and it shows up by Wednesday.

Please keep me updated with your progress. I have hope well both get it soon - and think itll be back to back Smiley

I don't think it is always Tuesday they change the status.

My status on Thursday last week was ‘Application Received' but on Friday it was changed to ‘Decision made'. When I clicked on it, it says:

We received your application to sponsor [NAME] on November 23, 2011.
We sent you a letter on January 24, 2012 about the decision on your application. Please consider delays in mail delivery before contacting us.

I am still waiting for my approval letter. Hopefully I am going to get it on Monday. Fingers crossed.

Good luck to everyone.
