I need to send my childs birth certificate - would a notarized copy do or do I need to send the original itself?

and same question for his passport, can I send a notarized copy of the passport pages?

Notarized copies should suffice ,originals are only needed at the interview if you are called

Its YES to both questions. Original BCs are needed only for principal applicant and spouse.
