Hi!

I am a registered chemist working as research & development chemist in the detergent and chemical industry for 8 years. Another 2 years in  testing laboratory as analyst doing  testing of different chemicals ,analysis of water  and  wastewater.  I also have 4 years in paint manufacturing as  supervisor in the production department. My NOC as chemist is not on the list but NOC 9212 is very much like in my job title. Do I need to apply?

Thank you so much.

I also have 4 years in paint manufacturing as  supervisor in the production department. My NOC as chemist is not on the list but NOC 9212 is very much like in my job title.

You need to ask yourself three questions:

- Has your 4 year experience as supervisor in the production department occurred in the past 10 years?

- Did you supervise and co-ordinate the activities of workers in the following unit groups: Petroleum, Gas and Chemical Process Operators, Chemical Plant Machine Operators, Labourers in Chemical Products Processing and Utilities, Water and Waste Plant Operators, Stationary Engineers and Auxiliary Equipment Operators and Power Systems and Power Station Operators?

- Were you employed by petroleum and natural gas processing, pipeline and petrochemical companies, chemical and pharmaceutical companies, water and waste treatment utilities and in a range of other industries and institutions?

- Did you as supervisor perform some or all of the following duties:

* Supervise, co-ordinate and schedule the activities of workers who operate petroleum refineries, chemical plants, water and waste disposal plants and equipment, pipelines, heating plants and power stations and systems

* Identify, investigate, correct and document potential environmental and safety problems

* Establish methods to meet work schedules and co-ordinate work activities with other units

* Resolve work problems and recommend measures to improve productivity and product quality

* Provide information for maintenance plans to ensure that maintenance and production objectives are met

* Requisition materials and supplies

* Train staff in job duties, safety procedures and company policy

* Recommend personnel actions such as hirings and promotions

* Prepare production and other reports and develop and manage operating budget for area of responsibility

* May also supervise, co-ordinate and schedule the activities of trades workers, labourers or other workers.[/i]

If the answer to the 3 questions above is yes, then you have the required work experience. You still need to see if you have enough points, but for work experience, you'd be fine.
