Barsindoo is right. U actually do not need consultants now-a-days. For some info on 'How to Apply' u may like to visit this thread:

Also..

1. Asses your language proficiencey level, if falling short of points
2. Get a medical examination done before applying

A lawyer will not be able to help, if points are less and/or there are any medical issues... as such the amt you mentioned is really high..

even if you want to go through consultants...5000$ is too high.....
Consultants are just Courier people who will send your file and receive your file...they are no other use other than sending documents.

Agree. 5000 is too much to hire a consultant/lawyer.

I also have applied through Noranex and I have to pay 3200 US dollars as a single applicant. I have applied in 2007 and now I am thinking to shift to fast track. The reason of hiring a consultant is that I dont want to take any risk. The whole procedure apparently looks very smooth but practically I found it difficult thats why I hired them.

Its better to apply on our own....it seems scary and overwhelming  @  the first look but the best strategy is to take one step at a time with deadlines.....and in no time you will have everything you need to submit.

1- Prepare a checklist of all the things you need put deadlines for each..

thats what i did and it paid off....
