Non-English Language for chats/facebook comments

Hello guys,

I have a small question. The chats/emails or facebook comments we have as our supporting documents, some of them are in our native language. Do we need to have translation done for those by a notarized office??
Also, we had a ceremony before the engagement which was the first formal announcement of us getting married and is called "Roka" in India terms, however there is no such name for an occasion here...If I show invitations and pictures or venue welcome board as the roka ceremony of us two, how do I really explain what is "Roka" and where.

If it is not English or French, it has to be translated. For official docs, you need a certified translator. For translating extra evidence like chats, emails, and Facebook, you can use a certified translator, but it will be very expensive, so people usually just translate it themselves or get a friend to do it. Attach a translator's declaration stating the language translated and swearing that it is a true translation of the original.

Definitely include the Roka. You can put it in the answer for whether you had a formal ceremony to celebrate the engagement - just divide the answer into two parts: 1. Yes, we had a Roka, and explain, and 2. yes, we had an engagement party, and explain.

If it is other language and not English or French it is necessarily to be translated like Canadianwoman said. In that way they could be able to understand your message or comment on facebook. It is expensive but it is much better that you could understand each other.
