I am currently working as a cook at Chianti Restaurant since January of this year and my work permit and visa is up until January 2010. My question is Do I qualify for the nomination program after a year of working with the company?..What willbe the requirements? On my end and my employer.

What province are you in and what is the 4 digit NOC code on your work permit, should say right where it has the job title.

The reason for the NOC code question is because the 2nd digit of the number tells you if you are skilled or not.  If the 2nd digit is 0, 1 or 2, you are skilled.  For example if you are 6241 chef or 6242 cook, you are considered skilled.

In AB, you are eligible to apply under PNP as a cook after 9 months of work plus some other conditions, see http://www.albertacanada.com/immigration/immigrate/cooks.html

Thank you for the information I will be checking the site mentioned.
By the way are you in Alberta as well? I have this part time job as a Housekeeping Supervisor, just in case, will I be able to apply for nomination under this category?
God bless.

I am also in Edmonton.  You can see the NOC codes at http://www5.hrsdc.gc.ca/NOC-CNP/app/index.aspx for various jobs.  According to http://www5.hrsdc.gc.ca/NOC-CNP/app/quicksearch.aspx?lc=e&searchkey=housekeeping+supervisor that is considered a skilled job also, 6215 but do you have a work permit for that job and employer?  Would that employer help you apply for PNP?
