Hello!

I have an opportunity to choose my job title in a nearest few weeks (going to have my Canadian work contract finalized).

Will really appreciate your advice what to choose keeping in mind possible immigration by Canadian Experience Class category or Federal Skilled worker.

I'm struggling between:
1) 0213 Computer and Information Systems Managers

As a Technical Manager of software development

2) 2173 Software Engineers and Designers (technical architect, software)

As a Technical or Solution Architect of software development

(sorry for lack of links, it seems forum doesn't allow me to post them)

In my particular case I will do both positions duties anyway Smiley
So, it is just a matter of what is better and safe from immigration point of view.

Thank you in advance!

Thank you for a quick reply!

Hm.. it seems that none of the categories are eligible for the FSW now...

FSW req: cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/cec/workers.asp
CEC req: cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/cec/workers.asp

That's very strange for me, because when I tried to pass the test on this site (canadavisa.com/assess/canada-immigration-assessment-form.htm) I got email reply that I should be completely fine with FSW program.

There are 2 categories of Federal Skilled Worker -

FSW 1 - must be on the list of 29 occupations

FSW 2 - must be a skilled occupation (both NOC 2173 and 0213 are skilled), with a permanent job offer

So you would be fine with FSW2 if your employer will write you a letter offering you permanent employment if you obtain permanent residence status.  (This offer must still be valid at the time your visa is issued, which could be 1-2 years).

I doubt my employer will be willing to write anything for me to help me to change status in the country.
But at the same time I will have a contract saying that I'm a full-time worker.

Do you think it should be enough?

What is you opinion regarding eligibility for CEC? Won't it be easier/faster to apply using CEC program in my case?

You will have to work for 2 years in Canada BEFORE you can apply through CEC...  with the FSW2, you don't have to wait...

Either NOC code is eligible for either program.  0213 - managerial occupations - tend to focus on management of PEOPLE, not technical stuff.   2173 is probably better....
