NOC for PR under Canadian Experience Class

Could someone please explain the need for an NOC in order to apply for PR under the Canadian Experience Class ?

You need to identify to which NOC you belong. This you can obtain from your Work Permit "Occupation" .  From Work Permit, get the "Occupation" , check for the relevant NOC code and the designation & duties,  then you will understand , how the reference letter should look like, with what designation, from when you are working, and your annual salary, with No.of Hrs per week or "Full-Time"

The NOC is a code used to classify occupations.  CIC uses NOC to distinguish between "skilled" and "unskilled' employment.  For economic class applicants (FSW and CEC), relevant employment experience must be "skilled" (NOC Level O, A, or B).  

In other words, your NOC code is a major determinant of your eligibility for the CEC class.

You can look at the NOC matrix to see the difference beween "skilled" (Levels O, A, and B) vs. "unskilled' (Levels C and D).

You have to identify which NOC corresponds with your job, and write it on your application form (Schedule 8 Economic Classes, Canadian Experience Class) -

People who have temporary work permits usually have the NOC identified on the work permit, but post-grads don't have this advantage.   Sometimes you can ask your employer (Human Resource Dept) and they can tell you.  Or, you can search for your NOC  using key words etc. here:
