Congratulation for a smooth one. May your new country offer more than you expected. From your narrative I was surprise that you were unable to use the internet in the Dubai International Airport. 1st time I transited there I was able to use their free wi fi. In addition the rest of us here who may want to consider Emirate, I will advice that we opt for the  8.30pm schedule. It will shorten the time we'll spend waiting for the next flight to Canada. Imagine hanging around in a place only to embark on another 14Hrs flight.

Thank God say the Lady no vex admit your family and ask you to go prepare the list in London for another day. Thank God for safe trip and all that has been packaged for you in your new country.
Canada and the US share some similarity in certain things. Their size and the way design most of their stuffs. Uk size affects their thinking and design too. Canada oni ba je o.

Thanks for your comments.
Well I actually saw the wifi bar on my ipad but for some reason i could not connect. Others i asked said they were connecting. Well maybe it was a technical fault on my part. Huh Huh

Secondly, I was aware that if i had taken the evening Emirates flight out of Lagos, i would have barely had 2 hours to connect the Toronto flight. I was mindful of the fact that there could be delay or cancellation on the Lagos flight and we would have now had to wait for 24 hours either in Dubai or Lagos again, since there is only one flight to Toronto daily?! Also, how do i cope with a 14 hour flight barely after an 8 hour flight with kids and a further 4 hour flight again to Calgary?  Huh Roll Eyes There had to be a break somewhere and Dubai was the appropriate mid point. We were able to rest, sleep and refresh ourselves before the long haul flight. Else we would have been smelly and dirty when we arrive. Make the immigration officer no come take that one reject us!!! Embarrassed

My dear people. A friend of mine introduced me to this site and I must confess you guys are wonderful. Seniors, elders, Mas and Pas all protocol observed permit me to be part of this winning team.
I am a post June 2010 applicant, and received my MR some months ago.
As of the time of receiving the MEDS my wife was 7 months preg. Am a cardiothoracic surgeon and I felt the risk was not really worth it. So I asked ACCRA for a deferment of my wife's Xray exam which they kindly granted. Now my wife has delivered and we are waiting for the baby's Intl passport to be processed here in England. My question is this should my wife go now for her xray exam or wait to do the her xray part with the baby's MR then both baby and Mum can do the meds. {NB- Myself and my son's have all completed our meds while my wife did all her meds but for the xray}.
My seniors I trust your reply will come soon. God bless u all.

Get a fixed deposit certificate from the micro finance bank and ask them to print  a  statement  of account  for the period the money was fixed . Atleast each fixed deposit is tied to an account

You are simply welcome. First you need to do an Update and then when the MR for your baby comes, both can do at once. All the best. Just curious, which Passport is your son going to carry? Green back or brown back?

ok,  the best way out is  get  your  money out of the micro finance bank  and pay in it into your bank account, instruct the bank to fix it(atleast for six months). You can then attach a fixed deposit cert and a bank statement for 12months  and send to accra

GABIL, I am sorry to disagree. The certificate of deposit (Which could be a letter to investor) is enough proof. The letter always contain among other things: Date of Investement, Date of maturity, Principal Amount, Duration of Investment and Interest rate.

However, make sure that the innvestment tallies with the statement you sent before. That is, if you already advised CIC on Jan 2010 that you got N1m, and it is now showing 600k as of Jun 2010, then the investment must have started in June/July 2010. With that you are safe GBAM! Grin you may even have all your POF in Fixed Deposit form afterall it is in a liquid form. Mind you, the investment should be in a short term  maturity o.

Unstaffed border posts at Canada-US borders

A controversial element of the negotiations between Canadian and Americans are plans to turn several border crossings into unstaffed border posts where travellers will speak to border guards through a camera connected to a distant headquarters. That option is being considered for 23 crossings, stretching from Fosterville, N.B., to Nelway, B.C.

How dat one come take concern us na?, except the crossing go stretch from Fosterville, N.B., to Oshodi, L.A GBAM......Pa' Right Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy
