Hi all,
I'm a U.S. citizen and recently married my boyfriend (now husband) who is a temporary foreign worker in Canada. He didn't list me on his application for a work visa. I was wondering what should be my next step in order to change my status from visitor to worker, and also to obtain medical insurance?

I know that you can apply online for a spousal open work permit, but we also heard that you can apply at the border and receive it immediately. I was  also wondering what documents we need (marriage certificate - or is a solemnization of the marriage enough?).

Also, at what point would I be able to apply for medical insurance?

We're in the province of Quebec if that helps.

Any advice or help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!
