Hi, my first time posting on this board.

I applied for a spousal visa through the Seoul Immigration Office, in April. My wife is of course a Canuck.

I logged onto CIC this afternoon to check my status, which had been APPLICATION RECEIVED for ever, or at least for months. My heart leapt when I saw a new status - IN PROCESS. I think though, that this is just CIC's new version of APPLICATION RECEIVED. I did notice however, that where before when I clicked on the status, they had always simply said, Application Received April 19 2011, they now had some new information, telling me that they have begun actual processing on my application as of September 9th.

My question is this - the Seoul office projected processing time is 7 months. I imagined that would be 7 months from April, but I am starting to think it is 7 months from when they start processing, i.e. 7 months from September 9th. Can anyone confirm this, please?

Thanks, in anxiety

It is 7 months from the date they received a complete package.  So if you have included everything when they received it on April 19, it will be 7 months from then.  Of course, it's not always the case.  They are saying the time posted in their website can be longer...

Bayern, just curious if you have noticed any other changes in your eCAS status. I saw the same change (to "IN PROGRESS") and got pretty excited. Our app was received in Seoul in Feb 2011. It's been 9 months, status was just updated a few days ago.

Hi guys... i am also awaiting a status change from Seoul.  my status has been "application received" since beginning of june.  now that it has been the standard time (7 months), can i go and talk to someone at the embassy?

also... how long did your application take to finish after the status changed to "in progress"?

Thanks for your help... good luck!!

It is 7 months after you were approved for sponsorship and your file got transferred to respective VO, which in your case is Seoul.  I would see "In Process" as a good sign, i.e. that they started looking at your application and maybe soon you will get "Decision Made" if all documents are in order and they would be able to finalize it.

You can e-mail to your VO and ask them but it's up to them to reply to your e-mail or not. Some VOs have standard electronic replies to all e-mails or sometimes don't bother replying at all. However you might be lucky to get an answer to your question from your VO.
