Hello,

I have received an e-mail from David Cohen's newsletter stating that "Canada rolls out the mat for international students - No job offer needed for three year work permit". Click here fot the full story http://www.canadavisa.com/canada-rolls-out-the-mat-for-international-students.html

Can anyone help me with this and tell me how can this help me in my immigration. I have applied for the immigration 6 months ago. Can this help me to early enter Canada as an international student and get a job until i get the PR.

Best Regards,
Ahmed

1.  You would have to be accepted by a degree/diploma granting school.  Once you graduate, if a 2 year or more course, then you could apply for 3 year post grad work permit.  If the course is less than 2 years but more than 8 months, you get a work permit for the length of your course.

This may help you in a way that you will gain job experiences in Canada through that work permit. After a while (6 months/1 year) update your immigration file with the gained job experiences in canada. Other than this I do not see any impact of the new work permit system for international students.

Thanks

hi, well i think its a positive initiative by cic.As getting a job is as important as getting PR.secondly after getting work permit  if u r successful in getting a job ,it ll brighten ur prospects of getting PR by giving u more points. One more interesting thing s tht u can apply to York University at LOCAL TUITION rates , if u have an AOR, plz visit
http://www.yorku.ca/rocal/calendars/2007-2008/financial/categories.htm
all the best.

Than you PMM, habib890, newcomer for your reply and for your help.

I appreciate that.

Newcomer:

What do you mean by this statement "One more interesting thing s tht u can apply to York University at LOCAL TUITION rates , if u have an AOR,"

What is the AOR? and what is the range of the LOCAL TUITION rates?

Can you help me with that.

Thank you in advance,

Hi,

AOR - Acknowledgement of Receipt
Actually its the date at which CIC starts processing ur case n its mentioned on ur case confirmation letter which u receive from cic after applying.it contains ur immigration file no. also.By local tuition rates i mean , as every one knows tht yearly university fees r higher for international students than local ones. but York university s going to Offer the same reduced Local tuition fee offer to the international students as well ONLY IF THEY R APPLICANTS OR DEPENDANTS OF AN APPLICANT FOR IMMIGRATION TO CANADA.U ll find all the detail about this clause on the link abt York university ,which i posted in my last post .
hope this helps.
