I second Gav here.. infact this is one the reason for me to wait for visa so eagerly.. as I want to land in Canada before winter so that my family including 8 months old daughter may have enough time to settle in new country and weather..

Hi friends,
Back on forum after a long time!
I landed in ottawa on 7th may. The immigration process on airport was really simple. The immigration officer checked the COPR documents and cross-checked the details with us. Then asked about how much cash we were carrying; made us sign on the COPRs; then stapled a copy on the passports and directed us to customs officer. The customs officer was pleased to see the list of items prepared by us and did not do any further checking except for few simple questions and then we through to the exit door!!!!!!!.
I spent the first few days getting the SIN no, bus passes, bank accounts, etc. One important thing -on airport i was asked if i had a permanent address. I did not have, so i was told to fax a form to a given number. Unfortunately the number did not work out but i discovered that i can update the address online at the cic website and thats what i did. For the health card u need a concrete address proof which i currently dont have; so i have to wait for a month till i get my bank statement. Regarding bank account, I got one at Scotia bank with no monthly rental and mimimum 0$ balance!! Its a Startright program offered only by them to immigrants. At RBC and TD they charge around 4$ monthly for an account and TD requires 1000$ minimum balance. This is no marketing just my experience. One thing i must say the people at the government offices are extremely polite and helpful!
Now my job hunt is on. I wish congrats to all those who got visa and all the best to those waiting.

Thanks a bunch for your hunch brother.. Really relying much more on all of your good wishes.. -Manish Yeah I know what you guys are talking about. But contractually I have to serve a 90 day notice in my current org. And Yeah man I have a daughter who is turning 1 next month.. So all the things associated with the 1 year needs to be taken care of. If my current org transfers me..then ill probably land before oct-nov. But if not..ill have to bear the winter this time and move em. I keep you guys posted.
@ Manish.. I have a slight feeling that yours will get done in the next 2 weeks.. Just a hunch man...
