Hello
I wonder if anyone can help.

My husband, myself and our little girl all have our PR cards, landed in Canada last September and have since returned to the UK to sort out property / job transfers etc. We have had another child in the meantime. We are returning to Canada to live in January 2009.

This is a question about the new baby. I can't now add him to the application for PR as it is complete. Can I just bring him in on a normal visitor visa and then apply to sponsor him once we have a permanent address?

Does anyone know how long it takes to sponsor a child?

THanks for your help.

There were some people on here that had a similar problem.  They applied for a visitor visa for their baby and were denied.  The husband then had to go to Canada alone to put in the paperwork to sponsor the baby.  If you are UK citizens, your baby will not need a visa to go to Canada but immigration might find a problem with it anyway since the rest of your family is PR and the baby is not.

Hi

If you're not returning to Canada until Jan 2009, you probably have time to get a dependent child sponsorship application in, and maybe even finalized, if you do it now!  Timelines for dependent child sponsorships through London run 2-13 months.  I suspect you'd have reason to expect to be on the shorter end of that spectrum.

The OP is a PR and therefor cannot sponsor while outside Canada.

PMM, I have also the same situation. If a child is sponsored from inside Canada does it mean that the parent who sponsored the child will have to stay all the time during the processing of application or he can go out. I have checked on the website under Family Class Sponsorship and it is written there that " You can come in and out". Can you please confirm that as my husband who sponsored the chidl said that during the processing time the physical presence is must. We are permanent resident.

Thank you.

If the sponsor is  a PR they have to remain in Canada, (except for short holidays) during the sponsorship process.
