It means they are not in need of any more Computer/IT professionals in their province. It may be sad news for people who were thinking of applying but I like AB's pro-active step towards labor market as oppose to reactive one.

I do not visit the alberta official website regularly. I just noticed the below note today in their website and posted it here in case if anyone else has missed it like me...

I guess this holds good for all those who have already applied also...

Note: Applicants under the U.S. Visa Holder Category who have an Alberta job offer in their field at the time of application to the AINP will receive priority processing.

This new list is going to disappoint lot of folks...especially all those who are done with the forms and just not mailed it yet.

well, they are better behaved than federal bas*ards. They made people who applied after Feb'08 ineligible after publishing a list in Nov'08. I applied in May'08 after spending so much time and money to be told in November that my occupation was not in the list. Son of bi*c*hes. They still owe me $1100 application fee - i.e. they have held my money for 1 year for no fault of mine. I email them with no reply about the money refund. Although in new they say they will refund. No clue....

Thank god Alberta didn't say - "New list apply to people who applied after January 1". lol.....

Well Mike, This is what happened to me too. I applied in Aug 2008 in FSW to be told in April 2009 that I do not "qualify" under the new list which they published in Nov 2008.

Mike/Canada77:
We are in same boat ... I sent my Federal application in sept and it was rejected because my NOC code was not present in list they released in Nov ... absolutely absurd ... At least this time I made it on time for Alberta PNP, lets see what happens there next.

This is so frustrating..... will they ever change back in the future? or it's the end of hope for us software engineers?

I think we were lucky to have been able to acted in time. As the website says "All the applications post-marked on or before May 19th will be evaluated with the old rules" which means we are good.

Lets hope that it goes on well from here.

I guess they will add back software professions in future, but by that time they may not have enough H1B software candidates to apply and I also think eventually this program will die - because in the long run everything in the US will be streamlined and there will not be any troubled H1B. I do not know about other visa categories that are eligible for this program.
