Need urgent information

Hi All,

I am currently living in Portland, OR. I am planning to go to the Vancouver, CANADA for my H1B stamping next month. I have a valid Canadian PR card.

My question is "Can I enter Canada with my family by a rental CAR from Seattle, A being a permanent Canadian resident”.

Recently, I had called the Canadian border patrol about the same. They have told me that I cannot enter Canada with a US number plate car as permanent resident.

I am little bit confused. When I landed last time as “Landed Immigrant” I went to the Canada by car only from the US.

Why it should be different second time? I would appreciate if anyone can answer my question from his/her experience.
