A TRV for Canada to re-enter after the cruise?  Or a visa for the US?  Or both?

As far as the US is concerned, you need to meet their requirements of immigration law, not Canada's.  So if they require people from your country to have a visa to enter the US, you need to apply for one of these.

As far as Canada is concerned, if your visa in your passport is not multiple entry or has expired, you need to apply for a new TRV or an extension.  That's only if you are not from a visa exempt country.

You need a visitor's visa to the US. Unless you are a Canadian citizen, or a citizen of countries who are visa exempt, you need to get a visitor's visa to enter the US.
