Dear friends, i am already in the process for my ielts preparation. Things look pretty manageable except the reading module. I have tried every trick in the book to get 32 out of 40 but so far been unable to cross 27. Can someone share something useful in this regards based upon his experience that may help me improve my reading module score. Some reall useful tips, that's what i need. Thanks

 @ Canadia 4u
great stuff, and i had already read this useful thread. Just wanted some more which could help me save time, and get better score. Are we given a separate answer sheet for reading module also like listening !! or we are supposed to put our answers on the same question paper cum answer sheet.Should we use a lead pencil for whole of the test (easy to erase and make corrections) or use of pen s mandatory fior certain sections like writing name, date, roll number etc. Please guide
 @  Om sai 73
thanks for the suggestion but i am already doing that without any significant improvement.

I agree with OmSai73
practice, practice, practice.
If you are to take your exams in few weeks, then it's less likely that your English will improve much.
But keep taking tones of practice tests (I personally did mostly Academic ones because a.much easier to find lots of them online and b.they are harder and more challenging, so after those the General Training tests seemed so much easier to me). It will also help you to manage your time better and not to get stressed when you will go to take IELTS.

The answer sheet is separate exactly like listening, but you get no extra time to transfer your answers. You can write your answers on the exam paper and after you are done to transfer them to the answering sheet. You can use a pencil everywhere (yes, even your name, ID number etc) so no worries if you need to make corrections.

Practice a lot! Buy newspapers, magazines or any other written material in English, it will help you to be more familiar with the vocabulary.

Good luck!

Hello,

As mentioned earlier by other folks in the forum, practice is the key. But let me also suggest you manage your time properly. You have 60 minutes to finish 4 articles. The first 2 are pretty easy compared to the later 2. If you are trying to get your score in the range of 6.5, I suggest you get each and every answer correct in the first two articles which will help you bump up your score if you get couple answers wrong in the later 2 articles. The main thing is, take your time and understand the question and skim through the articles. There is no proven technique to get a higher score. But most important thing is you need to practice. Try http://www.ielts-blog.com/. They have some good tips. I hope you ace your IELTS and Best of luck with everything.
