Need some clarification on eligibility

Hi everybody!
I really need some clarification. I've just graduated from a University, and now need to decide whether I'm eligible for skilled worker visa or not. I tried hard to find my occupation in NOC, but I've failed. I don't know whether experience in my area would be useful in Canada, but here is what I do. I've completed 5 years of study in a University in "Automation of technological processes and plants" area. My research topic was "Application of neural networks to identification of non-linear dynamic objects" or something like that :) In short my job duties could be described as "replacing human labor with machines" and it involves extensive use of programmable logical controllers, SCADA (Supervisory Control And Data Acquisition) systems and such. But I'm not really sure how to call my occupation in English, and how to check my eligibility. I would highly appreciate any help and advises.

Actually, you even havent clear what do you doing, for me its really confusing how to find apropriate NOC for you. How many years of work experience do you have? and what title your contract, salary slips or etc says??

Have to tried CIC eligible tool and HRSDC website for have a idea about what category you fall in? If not then go through CIC  eligibility tool here

and for HRSDC website, ... finidng right NOC code, go here and write in box your occupation, it will bring one list of NOC codes, then check one by one for make sure which NOC is representing your occupation and duties.

Thanks for your response. So, I've found something similar to my occupation on HRSDC. Still I'm not sure with the job title, since I live in non-English speaking country. But I guess it should be called "Automation Engineer". The problem is that I can't find it on HRSDC. So, let's narrow the question: "Are the occupation requirements too strict? Am I eligible if I have experience in related area? (I mean, obviously, closely related area)".

What I have learnt, dont worry about title of job, if your duties match most/part/full duties listed on HRSDC website, you are ready to go. I'll answer your question like this, If a Computer technician is troubleshooting and installing hardware/software etc, although its technical but that included in System Administrator duties too which is totaly different title. So re sure about your duties and duties listed on HRSDC for your desire occupation. Good luck.

I think this is your NOC  (2141 Industrial and Manufacturing Engineers) skill level A. it is very close to your job duties have a look at the link :

So as far as I understand, if I found some of my duties in "2133 Electrical and Electronics Engineers" that should be fine to apply, no matter if the job title is different?
