need some advice URGENT !!!!!

Hi all im hoping someone here can help me im from the uk and i am british as in i was born here and my parents are britsh too

im looking to visit canada for 6 months to visit a few friends i have over their after a recent reltionship breakup in the uk 
i have read other posts in this forums but would like some hard info and facts

how much would i be expected to have in savings
what would i need to say to stay 6 months (as i need to clear my head which is the reason i am taking this trip )
would i need to apply for a work visa before i left the uk and how long would it take


and any other info on how i could get a 6 month stay i dont intend on moving there i just need a long break

Unless you plan on working you don't need a work visa.  I'm not sure if there are any guidelines as to the funds, but I would think that as long as you can show a return ticket to your home country, credit card(s) and have some sort of plan to where and how you will live, you should be okay. You may also need some sort of travellers insurance?
