I have a basic question hope someone could provide me the proper information.

Inordered to get Canadian citizenship as a Permanent Residence we need to stay 1095 days out of 1460 days, however to maintain just the "Permanent Residentship" how long we need to stay out of how many years???

Sometime back I had seen some information regarding this in CIC website ie staying 2 yrs out of 5 yrs we can retain the permanent residentship but now I'm not able to find it over the website Sad

Does anyone have any info regarding this??? Appreciate if you could provide me the CIC website link... Cry

To retain PR status you must live in Canada two years out of every rolling five years. CIC site reference is here:

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/newcomers/about-pr.asp

To qualify for citizenship you must have lived in Canada for three out of the last four years.

Dear Scylla,

Thanks so much for quick response. I was looking out for this link only Smiley

From your status got to know that You have recently got the visa and landed in Canada, Congrats!!! As per my knowledge goes CIC gives single entry visa initially which helps you to land in Canada but coming to PR card, do you need to apply or will they provide  later? When do you get it???

It takes 8-10 weeks to receive the PR card after landing. There are no additional forms to fill out. An application for the PR card is automatically submitted when you land.
