Hey Eddy,

GCMS is the new version of CAIPS, as I understand it.

When did you order them?  We submitted a request a couple weeks ago by fax.

Have you tried the CAIPS notes codes in immipedia to translate the GCMS ones?  Or are they different now?

Not sure if this still applies to GCMS, but someone had created a legend to the codes here: http://www.canadavisa.com/canada-immigration-discussion-board/-t2988.0.html.

CAIPS was full of codes, GCMS much less so, more free form text.

If i want to re-order my caips so as to view the codes, which of this boxes should i check........

In what form would you like the information?
Receive CD
Receive hard copy (paper)
Examine copy of information in a government office
E-mail (smaller files only - only under 25 pages)

The only one I would NOT check would be the third one....other than that, depends on what you want. I selected the hard copy option.

Haha... the only one we checked was the fourth one.  I figured it would arrive more quickly if they just need to copy & paste, then hit send. Cheesy

Oops, I meant third one (it looked fourth in the list to me). The one about viewing it in the gov't office. Yeah, email looks good although I wouldn't want them making it more succinct so they can fit it in email.

We received GCMS by email (PDF attachment) and it was the complete report of 30 pages.

Are they helpful? What short of information are they providing (I have gone though the CAIPS codes)
Thanks

More text. I haven't seen any codes like in CAIPS.
Entire document is divided in sections (medical, security, criminality, eligibility, misrepresentation etc.) and every section has it's own status (started, not started, passed etc.) and dates (dates started, update dates and due dates). You can also see correspondence between VO and you (if any) in terms of e-mails, mail etc. For example, dates when they asked additional documents and when did they received those documents from you. Fees you paid or not. If interview is needed or waived it will be there. Even your request for that GCMS notes will be there Smiley

For me yes, they are helpful and everything is very easy to understand.

Thanks so much for the details. I guess whenever I receive I will know the status as well. I had sent it in Feb to Mississauga and after AOR in March nothing has happened. 6 months will be complete so I am but anxious and worried now...
