I came to canada as visitor to visit canada. Then i met my husband who is canadian, and we got married here.
Now i'm gonna apply to restoration of my visitor visa along with my sponsorship application.

I don't know how to fill out some part on the extend form:

Questions:
1. Is it right to put "My original reason for coming to Canada: "I wanted to visit Canada." "?
2. section D: my request
I don't know which box should i tick, as i came here on visitor visa, and it's expired. I married to my husband here, and applying for sponsorship application. So i have to apply for visa to stay here while waiting for my application be processed.
If i tick " extend my stay", then which year, month and day should i put?
If i tick " change conditions", is it correct?

Can anyone helps me out with these?

1 = yeah
2 - reason to remain in canada = to be able to apply for PR while keeping my status [perfectly valid]

Use Extend my stay, change conditions doesn't apply in this case since you will remain under the same condition, visitor. Usually they'll give you six months more max, so you should use that as the next expiration date, if by the end of the extension you have yet to send your app in, you can apply for another extension but it's better if you apply before it ends.

Also I recommend you apply by mail so you get some more time in as implied and use certified mail is possible so you can track it and get confirmation when they receive which it's recommended  you keep for future reference.

Very good advice.

Hi,

I am also in the same boat with Rucy. My visa now has already expired (on March 28, 2011). I had applied my extension visa two month before it expire with the reason of wanting to spend more time with my sister's family (by then my hubby had not proposed me :=)) but not yet received anything from CIC. And later, I found out that the processing time for mailing application is 165 days not one month as they stated. In April (after 1 month my visa expired), I had married a Canadian (registered in Civic center and did the ceremony in a chamber house and party at an Asian restaurant). Now my hubby wants to sponsor me to stay in Canada but I am not sure if I need to restore my visa or apply for a new extension with the reason this time is waiting for sponsorship application process. I am so confused and frustrated now as I don't know where to go...please help...

Thank you

Hi there,

Luckily I had found this forum when I was so confused. I would be very much appreciated if you could help me to find out what should I do with my status? whether I need a visa extension or restoration?. I landed here with a tourist visa for permission of staying 6 months since last Sept 2010. Before it expired 2 months, I had applied for an extension for another 3 months (mailed to Vegreville AB so I have a copy of receipt paid in Financial Institution and Canada post receipt of delivery). My visa expired at the end of March 2011 (I have now over stay for about 2 months). From then, I still have not heard from CIC officer so my question are:

1. Is that possible for me to apply another extension (3 or 6 months)? As my above explanation, I actually applied for the extension follow the time allowed but nobody replied me so I don't know what happened? I had married a Canadian and my husband is gathering his legally documents to sponsor me next month. I would like to stay here and wait for the result of the sponsorship, so how long do you think it would take?
2. If extension is not possible, then would a restoration be a chance?

Please help me to clear the above issues
Thanks a lot in advance
Cheers,

You can stay under implied status until you receive a response from Vegreville. Visitor application is now 165 days. Your husband (and you of course) would have sent your sponsorship application before you receive the response from Vegreville. Just make sure that the application you sent was complete (required documents were sent with the package).
