Hi

I applied and recieved a study permit(valid till 2011) and forgot to also apply for a visa. Also already bought a plane ticket. Should I apply for a new visa here in Canada or can I apply abroad? And how long it will take me to apply for a new visa?

Are you from a country that requires a TRV cos if you are not that maybe why u were not issued one.
A temporary resident visa (TRV) will be issued if you are from a designated country for which Canada requires a visa. (You can find a list of designated countries on the cic website.Normally if ur country is designated ur application for a study permit and TRV are processed at the same time and on the same application.

Hi, sure you can apply abroad.  Check processing times for TRV (study visa) for your local Canadian embassy/consulate.  It's usually on their website.

You cannot apply for new visa here in Canada as visas are only issued abroad by a Canadian visa office.
