I am a Canadian citizen and applied for sponsorship of my spouse back in February Last year, i.e. 2008... when I applied for sponsorship i was in Canada and it has been an year now, couldn't' be apart from my spouse due to the fact that I've came to stay with my husband in sri lanka... My application is still in process and no results as yet... i think it will take 3 or 4 months more for him to get the visa.... I am currently unemployed but will get my job back when i return to Canada... I've came here about 2 months ago and waiting for my husband to get through the process so we both can return back together... My question is that... right now I'm unemployed and is outside of Canada... will that effect my application for sponsorship... my plus point is that my boss and I came to mutual agreement as that when i return to Canada I will get my job back.. Will that be helpful? Can I still stay back to bring my husband along with me?

You are on vacation.  CIC will have nothing to say about that.  Just make sure that you have somebody picking up your mail in case they try to get in touch with you.  You do not need to show income to sponsor a spouse.
