Hello Everyone,

I need some help for filling up Generic Application Form For Canada - IMM0008

I am an Indian and currently working in Toronto, Canada as 'Federal Skilled Worker' on NOC O for past 10 months. I am planning to file PR and confused regarding the office requested that I need to select on form IMM0008, which office I should select (country of nationality or country of residing or something else...)?

Page 1. Immigration Office requested for Processing this Application.

As per the instruction it says - If you are applying as a Federal Skilled Worker, do not select the CIO as the immigration office requested to process your application. Although you will submit your application to the CIO, you must indicate the name of the appropriate visa office using this criteria.

Thanks in Advance.

Hi,
Refer to Page 24 of EG7.pdf.
It says,

Immigration Office requested for the processing of your application
Indicate the name of the Immigration Office which serves:
 your country of nationality, or
the country in which you are residing, provided that you have been lawfully admitted to that country for at least one year. Note: If you are applying as a Federal Skilled Worker or as a Federal Investor, do not select the CIO as the immigration office requested to process your application. Although you will submit your application to the CIO, you must indicate the name of appropriate visa office using the criteria above.

So, i guess you should go with New Delhi, India.

Hi Mikey76,
Can you please tell what is your current visa status in Canada?.  I was little confused when you said you are working in Toronto as FSW since last 10 months. What is your visa now and the validity?.

If the OP was admitted to Canada for 1 year on his work permit, he can choose either Buffalo or New Delhi.  If he doesn't have a US visa and an interview is required, he will have problems.  Also if he returns to India before the application is processed, again he will have problems getting his passport to Buffalo and back.  It all depends on how long he intends to remain in Canada.  If he knows that he will be in Canada for the duration of the processing in Buffalo and has no US visa, he can take the chance on Buffalo.

Thanks wilson/PMM for the reply.

Regarding My visa status.

Sorry, maybe I am not too good with the terminology regarding PR processing. I am currently working on Work Permit for NOC 0 category in Toronto, Canada for the past 10 months and my visa is valid till 2014. My company is ready to sponsor me for the PR and they have already issued me a letter stating they will employ me permanently.

Thanks PMM, Since my visa is valid till 2014, so it is better to take chances with Buffalo or stick with New Delhi. what are the chances that a interview may be required in the PR processing.

Also, the processing time is 23 months in Buffalo and 16 months in New Delhi, is there a chance that the processing time will change drastically, will it reduce or will it increase?

Maybe if you can advise me as I was just confused and trying to see which option can work out better.

Thanks again.

as PMM said

I'd say Buffalo would be the right choice.
They are good for faster processing.
