My partner has experience as a truck driver and he is planning to work as a truck driver while I'm studying in Canada. Is he eligible to work the same job in Canada with open work permit and what are the chances of finding this kind of job?

He will require a Canadian license to work as a Truck Driver.  Depending on the truck, Class 1 or Class 3.  Will probably have to take an airbrake certification.  Check out the motor vehicle branch in the province where you are for the requirements.
