Name confusion

Hi,
  My name is Dhiraj jindal but my passport has Dhiraj as my only name.I use Dhiraj jindal in my office. When i came to US they made it FNU(First name unused) Dhiraj. I tried to change it but its taking lots of time. While applying for AIPNP i came across family name and given name(s). I am little confused over this as though my family name is Jindal but somehow its not there in my passport so what can i specify as family name ? and how about given name(s).

Basically , i want to know the difference between family name and given name(s) ? Is there is a possibility of no family name ?

Dheeraj, Essentially, you should have gone to the RPO in India and submitted a form to correct this. It takes only few hours and gives you peace life long.
