Hi! I got married last May. I applied for PR last July but still under my maiden name. I got my passport amended to my married name last September. I'm just waiting for my Medical request now. Should I just make a letter to the Visa office about the changes? Will it affect the whole application?

Yes, you have to notify them. It shouldn't be much of a problem as along as you provide a copy of your marriage certificate as proof of the new name.

Hi!

Sorry, I'm a bit confused. What do you mean "release the PR" ?

Yes, Just like QWERTY_1234, if one got married and want to change its name and status...
After changing/updating the name and status. how long would be the processing time, i mean how many days, weeks or even months before the PR will be released?

Sorry, but I still don't get it. Release the PR? Are you asking me if the name change would make the PR application processing time increase? This I don't know. I can't imagine it would make much of a difference as it is only a formality, but one never knows with the CIC.

I don't think it would have something to do with the processing time. It's just an update of information so definitely it will not speed up your application.
