Guys I have a quick question, can we put in my pr application while my wife is still here in Nairobi or does she have to do it from Canada? We were thinking that she could put in her sponsorship and my pr app while she is here then continue to follow it up once she gets there..

I am also processing my niece and nephew's application thru Nairobi office.  We received AOR on September 26th and 30th, 2009.  We received a letter requesting more document dated September 9th, 2010 and we submitted the required documents by end of September.  They had given us 60 days.

We did not expect to hear from them until next year as they had given us 22 months.  Was suprised that they got to our file that soon.  I am keeping my figures crossed for all us

I would like to share other people's experience.

Good luck to all of us.

Cheers!

Hi,

I am applying for my husband to join me in Canada from Kenya. We got married in 2009 and we were only able to submit our application in Sept 2010, we had so many delays with getting the numerous police checks. Finally they were all done and the application is in Nairobi. We recently got the request to send in the passport and re-do medical as that had expired. My husband did them and submitted them within two days of the request. I was so excited when they asked for the passport as I thought this would be the last step and that this was a miracle considering the 29 months average given!! But I am disheartened a little after reading that this office keeps the passport for a really long time.

We applied for visitor visa twice and of course, they declined. First they said he didn't have enough reason to go back to Kenya (his parents and extended family are there but that's not enough) and the second time, they quoted the same reason and also that he had not applied for his PR yet.

Below is my time-line so far:
Application send to CPC-Mississauga: 09-20-2010
Sponsorship approved: 10-22-2010
Nairobi began processing: 11-01-2010
Request to re-do Medical and send Passport: 02-08-2011
Passport and Medical done and submitted at office: 02-10-2011

Now we wait...

hi purplenite1
it's a miracle to see that passport request after only 3 months of processing
but don't worry i have seen some poeple got thier passport back in 2 weeks others three weeks  also there's some who gt back thier passport  after two months
still it seems to me a miracle even if u got your passport back after two months
my husband was there i mean the embassy on 17 feb 2011 to deliver our additional info they told him thier system was down and they can't review any thing till the system is back
so he came back with no info in our application

Hi Jma,

Thanks for the encouragement! I am trying to keep my hopes up too.  Are you aware if offices ask for the passport as a preliminary step to the process or as the last step? I always thought it was usually the last the case..from my own experience coming here. But a friend said that it necessarily does not mean that they are going to approve the visa.

Hope all the paperwork for your spouse was dropped off in due time.

They took 2 months with our passport. Once again, as I said in another thread. Kenya, Nairobi - being the longest wait for spouse sponsorship (29 months) for out land to Canada, is taking less than 7 months these days... Any day now my friend. Keep your head up Smiley

Wow, that's very positive for sure!! Compared to the horrible 29 months!!! My husband spoke with one of the ladies who works in the embassy (a family friend) and she said that if all the paperwork is in order it should not take longer than a year (maximum). The 29 months is to allow for mailing back and forth too...apparently. So I am hoping since he is still in Nairobi, that things will go much faster because of reduction in response time.

All in all, I am feeling positive now. I have kept May in my mind as a possibility just to make the days go by faster! I believe God will use this time to teach us something Smiley

Thanks for your encouragement!!

Hi Purplenite,

Did you get your passport back with the visa? I submitted mine two weeks ago and wondering how long it normally takes to get the passport with the visa back.

Thanks.
