"You want to start your own business, but don't know were to start. Follow these steps and you'll be well on your way."

STEP 1 Business Ideas
To start a business you will need to choose or create a business idea. While this is an obvious step many people who want their own business don't have an idea, just the desire to be an entrepreneur. For the budding entrepreneur, there are many options; buying a franchise or an existing business, or looking to others for ideas for a start-up business. Once you have decided on the business you wish to start, then the real work begins.

STEP 2 Business Plan
Writing a business plan is your next and most important step, this is how you and others will evaluate your business. When seeking financing the investors or lenders will want to read your plan before they supply you with funding. If you're financing the business yourself, you will still want to have a written plan to develop business strategies and financial projections. A key element within the business plan is the marketing plan, which explains marketing strategies that will be used to advertise and promote the products or services. The goal setting steps of the plan will help you to analyze the success of the business in future years and clearly illustrate the capital needed to operate the company to break-even.

STEP 3 Financing
With your business plan in hand, you are ready to go find yourself some capital. Most small businesses have three options for financing: friends & family, investors or bank loans. Each of these options has different considerations for the business. Investors and even friends & family usually want ownership and control of their portion of the business. Bank loans burden the business with an additional expense of the loan payment, which can erode the business profits.

STEP 4 Getting started
You've got the plan, the money and the enthusiasm; you're ready, right? Not yet, as with everything you need to take the legal issues into consideration. First you should choose a legal structure: Sole Proprietorship, Partnership, or Corporation. Your financing decisions will have an effect on what legal structure you choose. Now you can file with the state to incorporate and obtain a federal Identification number.

STEP 5 Opening the Doors
Okay, it's time to get on the road to making some money; this of course means spending money. Where are you going to run your business? Will a home office do or is commercial space needed to service your customers? Do you need to hire employees to help you run the business? What are your bookkeeping needs, do you need an accountant? Finally, who could forget taxes, what taxes do you have to pay and collect? Now that your business is through the start-up phase, you can now look forward to the issues of managing a small business.

Hi, Here is the recent landding story of imu

on: 06-11-2011, 21:41:59 »

"Dear

As I pledged you earlier , I am now sharing landing experience here . we were three me , my spouse and the little kid landed at the Pearson  international  at 4.50 pm. The day was sunny and everything was looked so organised  and systematic. We traveled via Turkish airlines  and we found the service was moderate this time. After landing at the Pearson, we were directed to the new comers counter.  I found  none in the Que but later the Que turned  long for 4 new comers. The CBSA officer was so curious  about the kid rather than my presence before the counter. The lady at the counter was just enjoying the smile  and gesture of my baby.after  a few minutes , we told her about our presence  and landing . subsequently we gave  passports and COPR  before her . She checked all those and  things were finished in 10 to 15 minutes only .please note that the lady at the counter just asked about the amount of money I am carrying  and I told her . I was tensed about the amount as it was not satisfying the amount required for three members .But she did  not ask to show the amount. She told me that  she will make kid permanent resident first , kidding ! then..then...yea obviously you (me and my spouse ) will get the same! donèt worry for that! She spent more time with my baby smiling , kidding  all the time.  after asking my new address ,She signed all the papers  and pinned the copy of the COPR in our passports.she  handed a baby toy to the baby. may be she bought  some others for her baby too. she welcomed us in Canada  and directed to a counter where we are given some booklets and information sheet for the new comers . we  went to collect our luggage and custom formalities were done in only 1 mint. The lady at the custom did not ask for any list , rather she let us pass quickly. later we were awaiting at terminal no. 1. My friend took us to the resident in Mississauga.  This is a brief  story of  what we call landing!   Thanks a lot for you who came forward helping me during case processing ! wishing you a wonderful landing  for  awaited visa receiver and faster case processing for the applicants  .

wishes

imu "

amilatan
Respective all Members,
Thank you for ur help , suggestions, guidelines ,provided during my last 6 months with this forum.
I resigned from mu UK job n left to india in the first week of oct. on oct 19th i travelled with Lufthansa from
Mumbai -Frankfurt-toronto -Winnipeg. try Akbartravelsonline.com for ur flight search .they have cheapest options available online.
got my ticket for just 33k.(as a frequent traveler ,i have used almost every website during my last 15 yrs of travel.but i found akbar travel more cheaper than others).but u can still explore other options if available.
Landed in Toronto with delayed flight.it was evening 4 :00.but wasnt too busy on immigration counter. at first counter ,once u tell them that u r there for immigration. they will direct u to special counter.(very friendly officers, very polite).
at second counter, which is only for new immigrants,Officer will ask u only for COPR, passport, landing form/custom form,( which airline staff gives u before landing.customs form is simple, fill it as asked including ur landing amount if exceeding CAD5000) and address where u r heading to.he will counter sign COPR n will return u copy.and he will warmly welcome you to Canada, "land of opportunities". at the end of a lane theres a counter for newly immigrants , where they hand u out some pamplets (guidlines to follow).
then move to the luggage belt, collect ur luggage, head for exit(custom clearence),show officer ur custom form,he will send u to special custom clearence counter. another friendly officer will welcome u .and will ask u to submit ur B4/B4A if u dont have good to follow list,he will be more than happy.(saves his time n efforts).in ur B4 form (Goods u carry along list).include everything that has value ,even if its too old.they dont check or compare the price.its just for them to put the figure in ur custom reciepts. now most important ,disclose all d monetary ,cash/dd/tc in any currency to the officer.he converts everything fairly into CAD(on calculator) n write the same in ur cutoms reciept.7/10 times he will ask u just to show d amount but not to count. For TC's n DD he will write random no. on that reciepts.so do carry ur settlement amount with u. dont spoil d party for a Baloon .try nto to carry any agricultural products ,pickles, sausage etc,,,becoz u have to declare them .and then u have to open all ur luggage to satisfy them .finally they throw it in garbage. and if u dont declare n they catch u,then, id ont know what they do to u?or what effect it will be on ur further course?.
after customs officer will welcome u ,one more time n guide u to exit..U r free to explore,,,
Whole procedure take less time than typing this story. hardly 45-60 minutes ,if there's a que of 5-6 passengers.
After this procedure, i took connecting flight to winnipeg,Manitoba.Had a good friend of mine to recieve me.so didnt had to worry for accomodation n all.next day went to Service canada for SIN no. took only 15 min. carry copr copy along.
go to the bank, preferbly which has more presence, easily accesible, with low monthly charges n more free transations, online facility. i chose CIBC. they r everyhere in winnipeg .very next day went to kijiji.ca for job search n gave my first interview on 5th day ,got first job on 10th day. in d meantime gave interview on every day.but took job resulted from 1st interview.as that was d earliest.didnt wait for choice.sooner d better.

On 6th day i went to manitoba health services, registered for Health services, got my card immidiately.except alberta n manitoba,,u have to wait 3 months for health card n health services.
on day 7 went to MPI (manitoba public insurance),registerd for driving licence, paid 20 $ (10 for written test n 10 for handbook).1 whole day spent in reading handbook, solved some quizes online at mpi.ca.next day went for driving test(writtene),passed,n got eligible to use my indian driving license for next 3 month, before 3 months have to give road test n thats it, i will get canadian driving license.road test costs 60 $.
NOTE- for license registration u need to provide 2 residential proofs,,1 ) ur health card 2)when bank account is opened ,bank will give u one VOID check with address n signature.. u can use that as a address proof. .3) PR card. but it takes 2 months atleast two delivered at ur address.

Jobs are easily available ,if ur harworking.u can search on kijiji.ca
Residences also available on kijiji.ca but most of the time asks for references.its always good to have them,friend,family,anyone...if not then landlords/agencies will ask for alternative options).
Thats it from my side, looking forward,as days passes ,will update from my side.
Thanks once again,

My landing experience

SISH7255
Hello guys,

By the grace of almighty God I reached Toronto on 4th July.

The immigration process was easy at the airport since there was not much queue ahead of us. But later on many new immigrants lined up behind us.

At the newly landed immigrant counter, the officer only checked my bank draft for POF but not counted the actual money that I was carrying.

We were neither given any booklets/palmplatets anywhere nor given any information meant for newly landed immigrants.

At customs, a lady officer asked me about goods to follow list. I told her, I do not have any goods to follow but I have “goods accompanying list” with photographs of gold jewellery. I tried to show her but she said its ok, and allowed us to exit. She did not bother to take one copy of it either.

SIN Card application: When I arrive in Canada, myself and two kids were terribly sick. After rest of 2 days I went to nearby services Canada office and applied for SIN card for all of us. We had pre-filled SIN card application forms ready but they do not require that. We did not take kids with us (13yrs and 10 years old) for SIN card application and no signature is required anywhere.
The only important is ur COPR(landing papers) and passports.

Took "Public mobile" connections for me and my wife. Just 15$ per month plus taxes but no caller ID. If you need caller ID 5$ more per month ( I came to know later). It is unlimited free local calling within Canada. For unlimited international calling (many countries including India) it is 30$ +taxes.

Got internet connection from Rogers since they have promotions going on.

Some aftershocks:

1) Since I had plenty luggage (8 big suitcases+ 4 small) my relative had organised a big vehicle to pick me up from the airport. When I was heading towards my apartment I came to know that the van driver itself is a qualified electrical engineer(B.Eng.) with many years of experience in his home country. He said, he could't get a job so driving a van for time being (?). He landed 7 years ago. It was relatively big shock for me because I am also an Electrical Engineer

But hold on-
I met one Indian lady who came to visit my relative,  @  40 years of age, landed 10 years ago, now working as a Director in a big American company (based in Canada)

Met one Mecnanical Engineer, landed 6 years ago, doing menial job for 2.5 years after landing, got upgraded his education in Canadian university and now working in a govt. with very high salary.

This is all about my landing and experiences.

You guys need any help ? Please PM me, I will do my best to help you out.

God bless you all.

Regards,
SISH7255

Hi hmisabpk,
How are you doing?

Quick questions please :-
1) I noticed that the B4 form can be typed and printed from the website. I was wondering if the form could be handwritten. I plan to print a few blank copies and have them written at my own time. Is that allowed or it has to be strictly typed?

2) Do we have to mention everything that we bring? Can we state the items in general e.g. clothes, toiletries, shoes, etc. Do you need to indicate a value for all these that we state on the form? Can you give me some examples please.

3)  What about gold (jewellery) that are worn e.g. bracelet, chain and wedding band. Do we need to take a photograph of all those and declare as well?

Guess that's all for now. Thanks a million.

Hi, Androse
Thanks I'm doing well.
1. No problem with handwritten use capital letters and black ink
2.State the general items and value (exp: Personal belonging, kids wears etc......value CAD $ 2000)
3. Better to include every thing in Jewellery list and present market value, Yes need photograph, all jewellery can be in one-two picture together

hope that help,
