Hi all,

I received my IELTS results today.

Listening 6.5
Reading 6.5
Writing 6.5
Speaking 7.5
Overall 7

I want to know if its acceptable or not.
Somewhere I read that in Listening one should get 7.5. Is it true?

Moreover, as per the above score, point wise I think it gives me 14.
For Listening 2
Reading 4
Writing 4
Speaking 4
Am I correct?

If its true, then my total points will be 70. Should I consider myself safe?

Please put some light on it if you can. Specially I request those veterans who has real grasp over this issue.

Thanks in advance

Yes, you get 14 points for English.  If you didn't overestimate any of your other points for education, work experience etc., you would be safe with 67.  With 70, you have a little leeway if they don't agree with your other points but IELTS is concrete, if that is your score, you get 14.

Leon, could you expand a bit more on what you meant by "if they don't agree with your other points"?
TIA

When you calculate your points, you might be counting a degree for points that the IO doesn't agree is valid for points or you might count work experience for points that the IO doesn't agree is skilled or you might be giving yourself some extra points for something the IO doesn't think you should get points for.

For IELTS you get 14 points. Along with this 14 point, if you get 67 points, then you are safe.
