Hi liza, Sorry to know that you are helplessly waiting for your partner for a long time.
It is far beyond the normal processing period for a spouse, even though the VO tell about security interview or what ever it may be. I doubt your husband's file is either misplaced or left un-attended in a filing cabinet.  I agree with you for seeking the assistance of the MP. Simultaneously you can make a CAIPS/GCMS request of the case. So you will exactly come to know what is going on currently on your husband's file. If you need any assistance from me please send me a PM.
Good luck.

Thanks for ur reply Wilson! I thought to get the CAIPS notes when we got the notice for the interview but we didn't have enough time.
But wouldn't the MP give me the same info as i would get in the CAIPS notes? or not is it more info?.. Good to know his file is with someone not on some desk or unattended! Smiley
Aprreciate your help!

Hi bilbol11, Well the security interview is based on the info you provided or that they found in the background check and they need to
ask you questions regarding that specific topic. It may be because if you worked for the military or a political background or just something
that comes up as a red flag to them which they want to question you about to just be sure. The normal interview you get by immigration
is regarding your relationship with your spouse and verification of what you provided for them in your application. I have heard many people don't get their interview date right away but it will come although not sure how long it will take... Hope this answers your question! Smiley

Hi Liza, you are welcome.

It will not  hurt to go to your member of parliament. MP's offices are practically piled up with requests for immigration assistance. We don't know how seriously do they take these requests.MP's intervene so often they don't even remember having done so. In fact, they do so in many cases without checking out the merits of the individuals. It is likely that CIC views many of these requests skeptically.  How ever you should get a reply of status accordingly, but do not so fast. That is why I was mentioning you should go for CAIPS simultaneously. It should take 4 weeks to get CAIPS and also CIC's reply to MP would also take a month or more.
