I submitted my application to vfs in lagos nigeria on the 20th of april and it was received at the embassy on the 23rd of april, its over a month now and I've not heard anything from the embassy, my main purpose of visit is to attend my husband's grad with my toddler taking place on the 13th of june which is like 2weeks away. Pls advice what do I do. Should I contact the embassy or wait a little more? What are my chances

You could contact the embassy but that normally doesn't speed up the process. It is normal for TRV applications to take longer than what is mentioned on the visa office's website. Applications for TRVs should normally be made at least 2 months before intended travel date, 3 is even better.

Does it mean it might be delayed till after the convocation. It is so important I attend my husband's convocation. Could I still be given the visa if the convocation day passes.someone said they delay means they are considering me,how true is dat? Pls advice

You have nothing to lose by contacting the embassy.  It may jog them into action.  I don't know what time they advise on the website so is your application actually LATE or just seems to be taking its time?  From friends' experience, a delay doesn't necessarily mean good news, and sometimes it is better to know one way or the other if a decision HAS been made.  I hope your application included lots of evidence of your ties to your home country, as taking your young child with you may tip the weight away from them.  Fingers crossed.  Good luck.

My only tie is my job,I work with a company here, my baby is almost 1 so I couldn't have applied alone since he's still taking breast milk..is d tie enough to convience them? My purpose of visit is to simple attend d convocation as I can't leave my job.

Well when I submitted the processing time on their website was 20-30 working days but 2weeks after I submitted it was changed to 35- 45 working day. Is d new processing time applicable to me since I planned and submitted with max 30 working days in mind. I couldn't have submitted earlier as I was waiting for an official invite from the school and some other doc from my husband. Pls don't just view this post I need advice plsssssssssss

The new processing time is a reflection of what the processing time had been before they updated it and not necessarily how long it will take to process new applications, so you can use it to know approximately how long your application will take. There is really not much you can do other than wait. You could contact them and request expedited processing due to the reasons you mentioned, it is worth the try.

Personally, i just think that those at the embassies are just looking for every way to deny one of a VISA. you submit a normal visitor's visa and they can't even action it as fast as possible, they'll just wait for your invitational letter to surpass your reason for travelling, then they give a flimsy excuse that, it is because, your purpose of travelling has elapsed, therefore you can no longer be issued visa.
Whereas, they claim to be strangers friendly. Sad

Its over 45 working days now and still no news from them already the event I intend to attend is past. I wonder if the visa can still be granted at least to visit my husband.

I went to the embassy on the 5th of july to withdraw my application cos I needed my docs for an interview, when I got there I filled a form and was called from inside via phone to wait till 3pm, around 2.15pm I was asked to come inside, I thought I would be given my passport and docs back but I was suprised I ws given medical instruction to go for medicals asap and was also given my docs for d interview but told to return them. I've since returned my docs to d embassy and I went for medicals last monday. Additional docs from my husband was also requested. I'm waiting for d docs next week via courier so I can submit.there after I'l just wait for my visa. I guess mine is a miracle case and I'm happy I'll see my husband soon after being alone for 2 years.
