Multiple Entry Visa Validity/Bank statement amount?

Hi guys,
I am an Indian Citizen ,but PRESENTLY in USA for 3 years on F-1 Visa which is valid  till Dec 2011 BUT i-20 is valid till May 2010.I am planing to apply for Multiple entry visitor visa for Canada at embassy in LA .i have following 2 questions:

1)Can u please tell me the normal VALIDITY PERIOD which Canadian embassy at LA  grants multiple visa.Also in my case is there a great possibility that visa will be granted till May 2010 as my i-20 expires in May 2010.

2) How much financial's (CAD amount) should i show in my bank account for  applying for multiple entry visa.
