Multiple entry Visa for students with a permit

Hi,

I have been living in canada since 04. I am a student and my visa is valid until 2011. I have applied for new study permits twice and everytime i requested a permit with multiple entry which has never been granted. I would like to know the process to apply for a mutliple entry visa, and i am wondering why i have never received one. I tried to look for the process and i found nothing.
I very much appreciate your help. again my permit the  i have received last year is valid until 2011 sept.

Thats because you were applying to Vegreville which doesn't issue TRVs.  You have to apply either to the office where you are normally residence or one of the Canadian offices in the US.

I agree with PMM that if you want a multiple entry visa then you need to apply for your visa at Canadian embassies or consulates outside Canada, including visa offices in the US.

Number of entries is determined on visa, not on study permit.  And Vegreville only processes study permit extensions, not visas.  Remember that visas are required to enter/re-enter a country and permits are required to maintain valid status.  I guess you know this already.

Your visa may have expired years ago and there is no need to renew it until you leave Canada and want to re-enter.  But you must always make sure your permits are always valid.  Well, yours is valid until 2011 anyway.

You have to go to the CIC website for the country where the Canadian embassy or consulate you need to apply for a visa is located.  Each country has its own specific rules and all the steps you need to take as well as list of documents you need is there.  Also there is a link to see processing times for each type of visa in all different locations.  You will find everything you need to know from the CIC website itself.

Here in Ontario our students have to apply for a Multiple Entry Visa through Buffalo.  You must send with the application, two passport pictures, bank statements and financial sponsorship forms, your passport, copy of your Study Permit, report cards and or transcripts and letter of verification from school you attend.  This all goes to Buffalo Office and will be processed in around 40-50 days. Your passport will be returned to you with a laminated Visa that matches your Study Permit dates.
