hi monstermon, may i ask when the background check comes in? after medical or before medical is done? i am confused because before medical request sent to us, they ask us to update our NBI and pay for the RPRF. then medical request received after 2 days we submit the updated NBI and MC for the RPRF.   According to St. lukes, they already forwarded our medical results last March 30, and until today we haven't receive any feedback from them.

Hi reinzy,  we pay 42K for me and my husband as payment for the RPRF. the peso equivalent was indicated on the letter we received. and the embassy already encash the cheque according to the bank last march.

Background investigation mostly happens before medical request.  Canada avoids the process of us spending first before being approved. BUT that is not always an assurance. If the CEM people assigned to your case found something anomalous along the way, they can still another or  follow up investigation. Probably the reason why they (CEM) asked you to update your NBI is because(assuming) they found your certificate almost close to invalidity ( 6mos or 1 yr?).

If you qualify under the family stream, you'd better apply online. You do not need your documents to be notarized, just scan the original and upload them online. Check the thread about online application and you can learn more about applying online. Good luck on your application.

Yes. Online application is fast. You can get your LOA in 2 months or less. Mail applications are taking longer than usual lately. Maybe due to the volume of applications MPNP receives.

@  ericksonmendoza, you are welcome. Glad to be of any help. As candidgirl said, if you qualify for family stream, better go with online application just like I did. This is just a suggestion but I am sure you won't regret doing it Smiley

It is not true that MPNP has stopped. In the website of Manitoba, it says there "The MPNP continues to operate."

Good luck!

1- Can I apply online if i am applying under general stream?
2- Can 2 friends who are residing in Manitoba be from the same family, like husband and wife or son?
3- what is the processing time from applying till receiving the Mpnp certificate?

Thanks

Hi. Online application is only for priority streams like family, employer direct and strategic initiative. Unfortunately general stream is not one of them. I am not sure if 2 persons from the same family can sign your MAS. Better if they are from 2 separate households. Processing time for general stream is about 6 months but it could be longer if there will be some problems like additional documents requested, etc. Good luck in your application!

Carl Zeiss & pinoy 16

Thanks for your feedback. Ya, even I thought that it would make my case more stronger if they are from different household but I consulted 1 agent and he suggested me that they could be from one family. Since I am not from Manitoba I was planing to use a representative.

Hi. For family stream it is not mandatory as compared to general stream. However, there is a new ruling issued by CIC and not by Manitoba regarding the necessity for IELTS for those occupations that are considered low-skilled. Better to read on this at the website of Manitoba for further details.

Read that link too. Low skilled jobs are required to submit IELTS. However, ours is family stream, with skill levels A and B, but we were asked to submit IELTS. Still depends on the reviewing officer.

If you don't have IELTS available, better include a document proving that you use English in the workplace or have used English as medium of instruction in school. We were not able to provide any of these, must be why we were asked to provide IELTS. This worked for carl zeiss, as far as I remember. Right carl?
