Hi qorax and seniors,

I wonder, can a minor get PR/Citizenship at one point and how?
Is it also possible for a minor who came to Canada before 18 to get PR/Citizenship once he reached adulthood? I know it's possible in the States and in European countries like France. But is it a possibility for someone who came without his parents... u'knnow

Thank you, And.

There is no automatic PR or citizenship for people who came to Canada as minors.  The person could get PR with the parents if they apply for PR or if they are an orphan and under 18 and are sponsored for PR by a close family member.  Other than that, they must find a way to qualify to apply for PR themselves at age 18.  This could for example be done by doing at least a 2 year course on a study permit and then getting a post grad work permit and qualifying to apply for PR either through PNP or CEC after one year of working.

FSW=federal skilled worker - QSW=Quebec skilled worker
AEO=arranged employment offer - LMO=labour market opinion
CEC=Canadian experience class - PNP=provincial nominee program
