News Release – Minister Kenney announces Citizenship Judge appointments
Ottawa, December 20, 2011 — Joyce Frustaglio has been appointed as a Citizenship Judge in Toronto (St. Clair office) and Ted Salci has been appointed as a Citizenship Judge in Niagara Falls, both for three-year part-time terms, Citizenship, Immigration and Multiculturalism Minister Jason Kenney announced today.
Prior to her appointment, Judge Frustaglio served the residents of Vaughan, Ontario, for nearly two decades as a Regional Councillor and Acting Mayor. Judge Frustaglio is active in her community and has worked with numerous community organizations. She was the founder and president of Vita Community Living Services, a former director of Crime Stoppers and the Children's Aid Foundation in York Region, and the Chair of the 1997 Winter Special Olympics World Games.
Judge Salci has extensive experience in the business and real estate sectors and a background in municipal government. Prior to his appointment, Judge Salci served as the Mayor of the City of Niagara Falls from 2003 to 2010. He was a member of the Niagara Regional Police Services Board, and the board of the Niagara Transit Commission. He has also served as the president of the Niagara Falls Chamber of Commerce and the director and vice-chair of the Greater Niagara General Hospital Foundation Board.
Citizenship judges are responsible for making decisions with regard to citizenship applications, presiding over citizenship ceremonies and administering the oath of citizenship to new citizens.
