Minimum qualifications needed to get a job in Canada

Hi Moderator,

I am 29 years old, Filipina and single.  I am a college graduate and have travelled to US and Australia for business/training purposes. I have 6 years experience in the Call Center industry and currently working as Project Manager in the Philippines. I took up Mass Communication and I'm not a certified PMI person. I know how to use a computer and basic applications but I'm not tech savvy. I can speak and write English. I don't know how to speak French though.

What are my chances in landing an office job in Canada? Do you think I have a chance?

I would like to pursue this dream and hope to get your honest opinion.

your chances of lending a job in Canada is good, you just have to start the paperwork process. You can also, look online to get an idea what is available. You do not need to speak french to live and work in Canada. You may want to look for something on the westcoast like Vancouver or Calgary. These are big markets and better opportunities. I also suggest you have a professional resume in place. The format is different in North America. Check your points on official website of Department of Citizenship and Immigration, Canada. Then check other requirements. If everyehing is +ve, apply for immigration. You will need some Canadian job related references to enter in you field.

You will be able to find a job , but when you ARE in Canada. Honestly, I cannot think about any employer in Canada who could prove HRDC that there is no available Project Manager at Call Centre inside Canada.
However, you can try to immigrate as a skilled worker.

Processing time at Manila is more than 4 years as on today.
If you start collecting all your documents and apply, and land in Canada , it will be 2012. Unless you have job offer "on hand" from Canadian employer (which will reduce processing time to may be  1 year or so..) Not sure about any delay due to corruption.. (Mine it took more than 7 years at Manila processing..)

So economics and job market may be different in 2012.

I am not sure but like to know what is the salary you are drawing in Peso currently ? This may give idea to me, is it good to migrate or not ?
If you migrate, will you be able to get that Project Manager job back in filippines in case, you could not find better job in Canada ?

Do not look at salary earning number by converting to Peso.
See, what you can save in life for old age and how much comoft one get buy with salary..
