PRINCIPALLY SPEAKING WHAT BRAV21 HAS WRITTEN SOUNDS LOGICAL.BUT THIS WAY IF YOU MANAGE TO GET 67 POINTS EVEN WITH ZERO SCORE FROM IELTS, DO YOU QUALIFY??I HAVE NOT SEEN ANYTHING OF THE SORT ON THEIR GUIDE ETC WHICH SAYS THAT YOU OUGHT TO HAVE ANY MINIMUM IELTS??

U'd not find a definitive answer to your query in any official site [incl CIC]. However, the question of IELTS scoring is 'implied' everywhere -- It is u & only u, who has to demonstrate his/her language skills to be 'eligible' for PR processing.

Said that, it has been observed [vide experience & thru the various forums] that a min of 6 in every level/band is much desired to make-it thru the processing with ease. And an overall of 6.5 is our safest bet.

As Zulkfal rightly opined, there have been many cases [over the forums] who have been denied PR for want of a definitive/higher IELTS score - though they had made-it over 67.

Furthermore, the issue/opportunity of "Written Submission in lieu of IELTS/CELPIP" has been dispensed with since 26/6. And now, as many members correctly opined before, it is a mandatory requirement.

Bottomline:
Q. Is there any min score required for IELTS?
A. Yes, anything >6 is required. But, it's not clarified anywhere.

 @ qorax,

I think it should have been clarified and should not be left on the applicants to decide at their level to determine where their proficiency in English stands.
I think they made the ielts mandatory but forgot to mention that applicant needs to have a min of 6 cumulative band so as to be eligible to apply, it could have clarified all the ambiguity, just my opinion.

Hi Hasni!

This is bit tricky. Thats true its not mentioned any where  on CIC website what is the mininmum Ielts band required but I have seen on this forum that Ielts band required depends on your NOC / JOB.  Jobs that require strong command of English require higher bands like teachers (NOC 4121,4131) or Insurance adjusters (NOC 1233) etc. For them atleast cumulative Ielts 6.5 is required. Other jobs that don't require strong command of English, lower Ielts bands can be acceptd but its entirely upto visa officer what to accept or not.

Thanks

you are right pittabread, it differs case to case and VO is the one who decides what band to be accepted for a particular case.BTW you know of any case who got 5 or 5.5 band and yet got PR ??

I am not 100% sure but I can recall people who got overall 5.5,6 respectively and got PRR but their NOCS were like skillfull trades where high level of English is not required (plumbers , Electricians) and  not 4121,4131 or 1233 (where High levelof English is required)

Thanks

I'm sorry to hear about your IELTS feat drooza...since you have already submitted your IELTS results, you can't do anything about it for now...instead I suggest that we better improve our english language proficiency...while waiting for the result...what do you think?
