Unlikely, you don't need to provide police checks for Canada unless otherwise requested by the embassy. And not a lot of people get asked to do so anyway.

Thanks edgar, thats good news Smiley

I know! I honestly thought it would take awhile. I feel bad for the February people who are still waiting but perhaps their cases have a complication. I hope March is lightning fast!

It looks like they just want the Federal police certificate - take a look at http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/security/police-cert/north-america/outside-mexico.asp for instructions.

Note that they recently started requesting SSP certificates also (http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/security/police-cert/north-america/mexico.asp) - unclear if you need them if you are not living in Mexico or if they will process them for you.   If you aren't in Mexico, I would just send the PGR ones and see what they say (but it's a risk)

No News yet..its crazt,,,we are getting impatient now!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hey there, missmymexi - if you are having the Embassy of Canada in Mexico get it for you, you don't need the birth certificate Wink

See http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/security/police-cert/north-america/outside-mexico.asp

BTW, I enjoyed learning more about your story in the working ... thread Smiley   It will hopefully help many people (like the OP of that thread)!

Thank you OhCanadiana, but we are applying outbound, he will need to obtain it in Mexico but he has a ton of family in D.F. so shouldnt be a problem and its also an easy trip if he needs to go there and an excuse for a visit Smiley

I hope my story does help others not to make the same mistake , thats why I shared it, figure its already in the open so may as well share it on the forum Smiley

It's good to know, we don't need more stress in this process of getting PPR! So draining... But it's worth it!

Happy to help Smiley

Aaaah - if you'll be in Mexico, it's worth getting the SSP certificate.   edgarsitow and Nessa reported yesterday that it's super fast (even though it looks like there's a lot of people)

Just an FYI to everyone: In case you are sending someone else to get the antecedentes no penales at the SSP in D.F., make sure it is a "direct" family member such as a parent or sibling (sibling with the same last names). My husband sent his nephew and they would not give it to him. They said that his father (my hubby's brother) must apply for the document. So now, back to the drawing board. He must get a new carta de poder for the brother. You know what they say, two steps forward, one step back...

Oh my gosh they make me so mad. Whyyyyyy Sad k wait, did you ask them if there is any way to get it if you are outside the country? Also, i know it's not direct, but do you think an uncle would work with one of the same surnames as my SO's?

Security and background checks.   Unfortunately, I've started to hypothesize that they batch-process them in Mexico (since they seem to come out in bunches) so you can be lucky or have to wait a bit before a bunch of PPRs come out Sad
