Ok so i have 2 copies of his birth certificate right here but the heck if I can figure out what the issue date is, anyone know where that is ?? They are both typed not written so assume they are newer...

I think they do have that service in GDL, is it a little kiosk that you go to ?

I had my dad go get them for me, but I could've done it online here:

http://www.bajacalifornia.gob.mx/portal/servicios.jsp

Not sure if Jalisco has the same service though.

Thanks edgar ! I am going to check, I have some recollection that they do have that service there. What would everyone recommend, should we order it now or wait, how long does it usually take, sorry if I am repeating, I think MC may have already asked these same questions...

Ah, well that makes everything a lot easier Smiley

And yes, the birth certificate has to be from D.F.

So I just got back from handing in all the remaining documents at the embassy. It was pretty fast, I was in and out within 15 minutes.

How long do you guys think it would take for them to contact me? a month? two months? I'm giving them two months before I start harassing them with emails!  Tongue

Congrats Edgar! We are more than a couple of people waiting for some embassy news  Roll Eyes it's driving me crazy, it has been already more than two months since we drop the pgr certificate and no news... We are hoping it's going to be soon!!

Thank you for your answer OhCanadiana,
This exactly what they ask:

"Original Federal police certificate or criminal clearance from the police authorities in Mexico.
NOTE: Mexico Federal police certificates on file are not acceptable. Please follow tha instructions available on our website on how to apply for a Mexican Federal police certificate for applicants who are outside Mexico."

It looks like they just want the Federal police certificate - take a look at http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/security/police-cert/north-america/outside-mexico.asp for instructions.

Note that they recently started requesting SSP certificates also (http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/security/police-cert/north-america/mexico.asp) - unclear if you need them if you are not living in Mexico or if they will process them for you.   If you aren't in Mexico, I would just send the PGR ones and see what they say (but it's a risk)

Ok never mind I found it, the 1st one was the original from birth, and the other was issued in 2001 so guess we need to get another one ! Anyone know the cost of this ?

Hey there, missmymexi - if you are having the Embassy of Canada in Mexico get it for you, you don't need the birth certificate Wink

See http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/security/police-cert/north-america/outside-mexico.asp

BTW, I enjoyed learning more about your story in the working ... thread Smiley   It will hopefully help many people (like the OP of that thread)!

Yes, that's why I'm so confused. And as you said, it's a risk but I'm traveling to Mexico soon so maybe I will just get the SSP certificate just in case.
Thank you for the infromation it was very helpful.

Aaaah - if you'll be in Mexico, it's worth getting the SSP certificate.   edgarsitow and Nessa reported yesterday that it's super fast (even though it looks like there's a lot of people)

Question, my SO was in Canada for 5 1/2 months last year and with the rates of the application will be here for more than 6 months on his visitor visa (we will apply for an extension) Do you think he will be asked to do a police check for Canada? If so, would it be a country wide one? Or only for the province of Ontario?

Unlikely, you don't need to provide police checks for Canada unless otherwise requested by the embassy. And not a lot of people get asked to do so anyway.
