Hi All!!

I have a question regarding the IMM 5544 form, specifically: the bit where you (the sponsor) have to prove that you have a job waiting for you once you move back to Canada...

Question:  Can I bullsh*t a little?

Can I have a friend (who's the owner of her own business) write me a letter stating that she is going to have me work for her once I move back to Québec... even though she won't?  Are the immigration officers actually going to check?

(I guess the same could apply with having to prove that I have a place to stay in Montréal... Can that be bullsh*tted as well with a little help from my friends?)

That would be misrepresentation.  You will be signing a statement swearing that everything in your application is true (see last page of http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/pdf/kits/forms/IMM1344E.PDF).   And if that's not enough, be aware that folks are even getting stripped of their citizenship due to misrepresentation.   Tread very carefully here.  You would also create a liability for your friend, should CIC find out.

If you are concerned about intent to move to Canada, you do not need to prove you've had a job, BTW (at least for Federal rules, not sure about Québec).   For Form 5540, you just need to show you have an intent to go back to Canada and share your plans to do so in a letter / essay.  I can't find form 5544 - is it a Quebec specific form?

These are just some thoughts based on the information available, what I've read, and my experience.  I am not an expert; if you want the facts, cic.gc.ca has a wealth of information.  Good luck with your application!  Hope you have a wonderful day *smile*

You don't have to prove you have a job. You just have to prove you are moving back. Don't lie. Honestly you will just be stressed worrying that they will catch you and if you do, you will be screwed. So write a letter explaining and show the REAL deal. What ARE you going to do when you go back? Are you really going back?

Yeah I don´t have a job in Canada when I go back yet...because I´ve been in Mexico for a while now.  So I just wrote about where I plan to look, what kind of jobs I might be interested in and that we would be able to stay with my parents until we find jobs and a place to live.  (also included letter from the parents!) and it was all fine, I was approved.

Trying to make some plans hoping people can give me advice to verify Smiley From the time the PGR letter is recieved what is the avg time (give or take) that the passport would then be requested?? From what I have seen/read its usually 1-1 1/2 month after they recieve the PGR. Is this correct?

Yes I've noticed that CIC takes about two months between interactions.

My file once again shows on eCas as "in process" and it says that they started processing it on February 27th, (they sent me the email on April 26th)

In my case they also requested for the Medicals, Police Certificates for Baja California, and two updated generic forms. I already have everything except for the PGR document, still waiting on the original letter, I'm wondering if I should take what I have now, or wait until I get the PGR document and go hand in everything at once.  Undecided

I am in Canada, heading back to the US next week and I am starting to feel overwhelmed! I am happy our stuff is here although importing and licensing the car is a nightmare and SO expensive - but I am stressing about my husband finding a job! He is a construction superintendent with a business degree from an American university. Where should we start? Any advice? My husband has been watching youtube videos about hispanics living in Canada. =) I want him to be happy and successful here!
