Yes we got AOR by email on April 9th and it said they were sending a letter by regular mail on that same day, with the PGR instructions. Still waiting to get the letter...It´s been 9 business days so we will wait some more.
Ohhh ok! I sent the PGR certificate two weeks ago and still haven't had any news, do you know what's the next step??

Geeze at this rate.. even in the best case scenario its taking 3 months for sponsorship approval and 5 months in 20% of cases from Mexico City, thats still 8 months! :/ If we did decide to go wait it out in Mexico, how would I notify them that I left my job, would that be used against us in the application?
If you decide to do this, be very careful not to give them an opening to question your intent to move back to Canada. Search for posts by stevelo .... he quit his job and moved to the US to wait out the process to be with his wife when her student visa expired and they were ready to deny his visa application because they didn't believe they had the intent to move back given that he had left Canada during the process. He quit his US job and was heading back to Canada. Perhaps think about trying to get a leave of absence from your job or have them say they'll rehire you when you go back .... or think carefully about how to communicate you left your belongings, etc in Canada. Or, explore ways to extend your husband's stay in Canada ... And if extensions are denied at least you can show why you relocated to Mexico to wait it out.

These are just some thoughts based on the information available, what I've read, and my experience. I am not an expert; if you want the facts, cic.gc.ca has a wealth of information. Good luck with your application! Hope you have a wonderful day *smile*

OhCanadiana, Thank You so much for your answers!! You've been a great help I have two last questions regarding the same application form ( IMM 1344)... 1- In the Sponsor Eligibility Assessment section... Question #4 "Do you reside in Canada and in no other country? If you answered "NO", but are a Canadian citizen living exclusively outside Canada, you may still be eligible to sponsor" I don't know what to answer because Yes I am a Canadian citizen, however I moved to Mexico to be with my husband (whom I'm sponsoring) in October 2011... but with the intention of moving back to Québec. 2- In the Sponsor Residency Declaration section... "Are you a Canadian citizen living exclusively outside Canada?" Err...again...I'm not sure whether to check "Yes" or "No"

OH! ...and another very important question... What happens if ever I get pregnant before moving back to Québec?! Will I have to sponsor my own baby too?!

If you are residing in Mexico and not visiting (which I would guess is true from your post (”however I moved to Mexico....”) then you need to say you do not currently reside in Canada. Assuming you are a Canadian citizen then you'll have to write a letter explaining your intent to move back to Canada. In that letter, you'll have to explain how you are thinking of moving, any plans you've made (housing, jobs, city you'll live in, schools for any kids you may have, etc) and I'd explain how/why you moved to Mexico in Oct of last year and what your status is in Mexico (FM2 or whatever it is) 2. Where are you living? Are you splitting your time between Canada and Mexico or are you really living in Mexico. Be honest.

Aaaah, such a simple question...with a complicated answer! Short version - Are you, Debora, a Canadian citizen? If so, were you born in Canada or did YOU naturalize? If so, your baby will automatically be Canadian even if s/he is born in Mexico. You'll need to process the citizenship certificate and passport. Reach out to the Canadian Embassy. My understanding is that it can take several months (ie, almost a year) to get the citizenship certificate although if your travel is imminent and you submit copies of your proof of travel it can be done in a month or so. The Canadian Embassy has info at http://www.canadainternational.gc.ca/mexico-mexique/consul/citizenship-citoyennete.aspx?lang=en&view=dAnd you can also call the consular section with questions M-F 9-noon at Assistance to Canadians (Consular Section): Telephone: (55) 5724.7900 Fax (Consular): (55) 5724.7943 Fax (Passports): (55) 5387.9305 Email: mxico @ international.gc.ca If, however, you are a permanent resident of Canada or you were born abroad and got your Citizenship from your parents then you would need to sponsor your baby too (unless your parents were employed outside Canada by the federal, provincial or territorial public service, or the Canadian Forces at the time of your birth) The good news here would be that your grand kids would b Canadian automatically There is a tool you could use to answer a few questions from your baby's perspective and get a definitive answer at http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/citizenship/rules/index.asp

Im curious, how do you know if the interview has been waived? If they do request an interview, how much anticipation do they give you?
Thanks!

yeah, I think so! This is what it says:
¨You will be notified of the appointment for your interview, if required, approximately one month prior to the date of the interview, and you will be provided with further instructions at that time.¨
So I´m thinking if they don´t require an interview they just don´t ever request one...and that´s how you know it´s waived? haha
