Well in Grice's case.. for a few days (?) I guess they werent accepting precartillas for whatever reason.. My SO called and confirmed it with them, then the next day we called back and we sent them an email and they were once again accepting them soo now everything seems to be fine.. They probably told you to come back in a year to get your liberada aka full cartilla.. so long story short, yes that is enough to get the antecedentes.

I don't know about the guy you googled, but from what I understand this is a serious requirement of the PGR, so I wouldn't risk it, better safe than sorry (in my books anyways!)

They actually told me to go back in a few months for a "sorteo" which is why I didn't go. I couldn't really afford to spend the next 52 Saturdays without working. I just hope they accept the precartilla.

I'll contact them whenever I get that letter from CIC Smiley

Wait, what?

I don't even know what document I have, if it's a precartilla or cartilla. I was in Canada when I turned 18, and when I applied to my current job, they asked me for my cartilla, so I went to city hall or w.e. And got this document, basically 4 small sheets, the first one with my information, one fingerprint and a seal that says "Remiso" on the upper left side, and the last sheet is a green one with some constitution articles. I went on June 2010 and they told me to go back on October of that same year, however I never went back as I figured I wouldn't ever need it.

Is this a precartilla or what? I'm really confused and would HATE to get into issues with the PGR because of something like this, as I'll have to get that document eventually. I hope someone can help!

Edgar

Yes Edgar, that is the precartilla!  the cartilla is an actual card that you get after you go back in october (if you had of) and then wait out your service time.  You're fine as long as u have a precartilla

Hi gricelanora.

She just sent a copy of the refusal along with the form I had sent you before. The additional proof will be required 20 days before your hearing date.

Two small victories for me today:

1. I got my daughter's Canadian passport which is great since we are flying to Canada for 3 weeks because we need to be there to claim our stuff when the moving truck crosses the border. I forgot to sign a part so they sent it back and I was worried. Passport Canada is VERY efficient!

2. When I tried tracking my application on usps.com, it said I could not. I was pretty bummed because I didn't know when it arrived and didn't know for sure that it arrived. But I decided to call today and I was able to track it over the phone! So now I know it arrived Feb 21 for sure and I am very relieved.

No progress on the visa really but I am in a great mood anyway! =)

Hi Oscar.

Does your wife live in Quebec? Or is she at least from there? If so then yes you need a different application form, and your process will be a bit different as you have to get a CSQ (Certificat de selection du Québec)

Thanks for your response Edgar!

Yes, my wife is indeed from Québec...
She's been living with me here in Mexico City since October 2011, and we got married here in January 2012.  In order to obtain a CSQ, will I need to know French??  I was assured that by marrying a French Canadian, I would NOT need to learn French, and that I would be getting free French lessons once I move to Québec.  I am now concerned that the CSQ will demand that I know French  Lips sealed ...Is that gonna be the case??

Also, can you please send me the link where I could print out the Québec application form?

Thanks in advance for the info!

Hello again Oscar.

No you don't need to speak French, HOWEVER it will look like a big plus if you can show the Immigration Officer that you at least know some and are making the effort. The French lessons are not free; you have to pay $40 every 6 months, but I'm sure you can handle that Tongue haha.

My recommendation would be that after you get your interview date, you start taking intensive French lessons. This way when you go for your interview, you can demonstrate that you're making an effort. The IO will be pleased with this, trust me.

http://www.immigration-quebec.gouv.qc.ca/en/immigrate-settle/sponsors-sponsored/apply/index.html

Click on the links here to have access to the forms. I actually find the Québec site a lot more understandable than the Canadian one.

If you have any more questions let me know!
